John Johnson is the Associate Director of the Avila Institute where he also teaches – serving to form lay faithful, priests, seminarians, and religious in over sixty countries through the mystical tradition of the Catholic Church. He is a graduate of the philosophy program at St. Mary’s College and also has a Master’s Degree in theology from the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley, CA, where his thesis focused on the beatific epistemology of St. Thomas Aquinas. He has spoken at Catholic retreats and events across the country and lives in California with his wife and three young children.
